What is this Consciousness about?
Consciousness is about life himself, Jesus. It’s moments of expression of my awe, reflection, admiration of him. It is revelry of him because, you know, to know him is to love him, and I can’t help but sing.
- Consciousness
- What I love about Jesus
What I love about Jesus
- reality
- the nudging
- the utter reliance on his grace
- he’s already done it, he has already paved the way
- his multitude of expressions
- He is who he is
- independent of what we do, so we can trust him, we can rest, we can praise
- how he challenges me to live out of my spirit
- who happens on the inside, and the warfare that declares on defeat
- that he wants to shine through us
- his living personhood
- always speaking to us from the future
- His immediacy
- Seeing him
- He keeps inviting me back
- the newness
- the possibilities
- His Body
- his pursuit of us
- the future
- the glory of exalting him
- stirring us to be a participant in God’s story
- his delight in doing it all for us
- being that narrow way
- urging us on
- pursuing him and him pursuing us
- his gentleness
- Just how I have come to know him and to know him is truly to love him
- That he would invite us to this reality of life and share with him. It’s the opening and sharing, this participation.
- It’s just the grace and I mean his
- willingness and wanting and joyfully doing it for us, just being able to witness God on our behalf
- His tenderness
- His faithfulness, unwavering, just based on who he is, love.
- invitation for him to grow in you
- every member of his body expressing him
- his unity with his body
- forward motion
- always more
- the certainty and the mystery
- his eternal purpose
- forever
- how he is uniquely expressed through every member of his body
- what I don’t know, couldn’t possibly know yet, only so much now I can know, and that being overwhelming
- the moving on, the invitation to move
- witnessing him in others
all manner of awe
My first impressions of God weren’t good. They were actually terrible. I carried a lot of burden, shame, terror. I literally would brace my body for punishment every time I messed up because I saw God as punisher and punishment as just. He was just angry. He was angry that he had to send Jesus to die for me so that things could be right again. And now, because he did everything for me in Jesus, I needed to do everything for him in myself. I had to be perfect because of what Jesus did for me. Anything less would warrant punishment and proved that I did not love God and wasn’t thankful for what Jesus did for me. When I messed up, I was not living up to the standard of what he did for me in Jesus so punishment was due.
It wasn’t until I started having severe anxiety episodes that I began to see that, at the bottom of years and years of this kind of thinking, was a “love” that was construed with hate. God became something like a burden that I needed to carry because of everything he did for me – saved me from hell. And when I couldn’t meet his demands of perfection that I owed him, he became a disapproving mother, someone who was secretly disgusted with me, someone who was exasperated by me and exhausted of extending mercy continuously towards me.
I want to encourage you to know God for yourself.
Many are “raised in the church” which, in a sense, is what life in Christ is about. But because the church has been infiltrated and so often has exalted everyone and everything not Jesus, church has taken on the shape of indoctrination, control, contortion and manipulation, instead of taking on the shape of Christ and joy and love. So being “raised in the church” is almost like being under a spell because often people are under the influence of something that is masking as the energy of God. When this happens, being “raised in the church” becomes distinctly the opposite of being raised in Christ. And that deception dramatically affects the way you think of God, yourself, why you are here, your communion with Jesus and one another, your collective purpose.
If I was encouraged to just love on God, enjoy Jesus, I would’ve walked in freedom so much sooner. The freedom of being overwhelmed and overjoyed with just knowing him. Instead, loving on him wasn’t enough. Enjoying intimacy with him and just reveling in him and singing in my spirit to him and fellowshipping with him and sharing that life of joy with one another wasn’t enough. I had to “do” things. And the “doing,” no matter what, wasn’t good enough.
It may not be easy, but to know Jesus is to love Jesus.
Kind of open yourself, if you can, to love. To joy. Even just a little bit.
Then when you are willing, open yourself a little more.
This area, that area. Make a little more room, anywhere and everywhere, as you can and when you can.
Let go of everything you think you know about Jesus, or yourself, or your goodness, or your pain, or your future, whether “right” or “wrong.”
Just let Jesus unfold, make it all new, in you.
Good evening
Know God for yourself, you’re supposed to. Consider that’s basically all he wants – you.
No better way
Act on what Jesus says! This enriches that relationship, that union, that intimacy. And even that overcoming. Act on what he says. Let his words do what his words do, unleash the victory. His words are victory. They’re the code to victory. When he says it to you, it’s good. It’s no better way to go out and do it. It’s the surest possession you have – his words. When you know him and have what he says, confidence is fully known! Because when Jesus speaks, victory is speaking. There’s no mystery. Only praise. It’s running music. I’m slowly but steadily and surely learning what I would call cheerfully, and with expectation, acting on what he says.
To be engulfed in love
I had to break from everything, every association, every negative thing, every thing that flatlines Christ. Everything I could be on my own like a “good person,” a right person, an upstanding person. I can just express Christ. Rather, Christ can be expressed. You can be free to express him. You can be free to be loved.
The new way
God really isn’t controlling at all, people are. It’s their hallmark. When people see themselves as god or distinct from you they will be controlling. It’s hard to think about control when you see yourselves as members of one another, when you think “we,” when you’re about the gathering. When people try to imitate God outside of who he is – love – it is always warped. Whenever you don’t have knowledge of or intimacy with God but try to imitate God, you’ll always get something like a cult, something bogus, warped. You’ll never get love.
what’s bigger than the inside
So much Christianity, so little Christ. It’s too much of a distant relationship, or side by side, but not enough him in me and me in him. It’s too much like neighbors, too much up there and down here, too little focus on him in you and in us and you in him and us in him. Not enough of the inside. Him dwelling in us, to live, abide, make his home in us, that God has given us no less than himself.
I believe you were made to be utterly full, full of utter life, a dwelling place for utter life
The more I meditate on God the more I believe he created us to inhabit us
the context is love
Christianity is too much on control, not enough on cultivation
before the rest
I only want to talk about Jesus, exalt Jesus. I leave it to God to show you the rest. It’s something when you just focus on him, fellowship with him – it’s instant relief. There might be something to spiritual hunger. Like in the physical if you’re destitute that may show signs. If you are spiritually destitute, that can show signs as well. I wonder what people what from this world. I can’t imagine life without Jesus. And I know every day people’s “reality” is independence from him. It’s a scary thought. I have a choice to put Jesus at the forefront. I notice Jesus doesn’t force the issue. What he wants is your heart, genuineness, intimacy, and that can’t be forced. I also notice he is not one to control you. He is one to nudge you to freedom.
He will dwell with man
wherever there’s revelation is a beginning
what you don’t know
Keep what you really don’t know in your perspective. Keep it in view, keep it at your forefront. Think about life and consciousness as so much larger than what’s been told to you by this world system. If there’s any conspiracy, if there’s anything that’s been hidden, it’s what this is all about. Don’t get frustrated. Understand this is only a part of your life. Understand that it only gets better. Understand you didn’t think of yourself, you’re not the author of yourself, you’re not your own idea. So there’s no reason to get frustrated. Just continue to follow what’s on your heart. Just be sincere. And continue to have joy and don’t wrestle against the peace.
God is a people person
see God in a new way everyday, you’re free to do that
that’s where jesus is
If you think there’s more, there’s more. Get to know Jesus. Get to know him for yourself. Take ownership of your salvation, meaning, allow Christ to reveal himself to you and walk in that revelation. Walk confidently in who you know Christ is. But really, get to know him. Get to know him. Everybody in the body of Christ has such a unique gift in that revelation of Christ, building Christ in one another, Christ in me building Christ in you. Every member of the body of Christ has that gift, and it is a gift. So walk in your gift and understanding and revelation of the knowledge of Jesus. And how do you do that? For me – and it’s different for everybody – it’s just being deliberate and resting in him and pursuing him and seeing him. And allowing that to continue to take root and gain in me. So I encourage you, if you believe, if you know there’s something more to “Christianity,” that’s because there is. Don’t get frustrated. Run after that. Go after that. Because that’s where Jesus is.
what theology trumps love?
I remember the gospel is good news. Jesus is good news. Telling people they are abominations and deserve to die can be said of anyone, actually. And it’s also not good news. Why does it feel so good to hurt people? Is that the legacy of Christ? Where do people learn that behavior? Do they feel entitled to it? Do they feel that God entitles them to be cruel? When you can open up Jesus to someone, why choose to point them back to themselves rather than to Christ, freedom, love? I’d like to see anywhere in Scripture where that’s the legacy Christ left for people, to condemn them? Again, if you can talk about Jesus, why won’t you?
You have consciousness.
You have the highest thing possible. That’s the pinnacle of creativity. There’s so much more to this life than what the world system makes it to be. God gives you a gift. I think there is something to like the Matrix, you have to wade through all the stuff sometimes to get to the gold. Keep wading. Keep wading through it. People reduce consciousness to these things that aren’t even worthy of it. People’s whole lives surround something that’s not eternal. There are things that are eternal. We’ve got to cultivate eternity in one another.
