Sac Poetry is a gathering for our community to connect through poetry. Hosted by Last Days Poet , we gather to share poems, listen, connect, and experience the power of poetry together.

We gather regularly from January through October, usually at Robbie Waters Pocket-Greenhaven Library Meeting Room. New dates are announced throughout the year.

Sac Poetry returns in January

Another afternoon
around poetry.

A new year brings another opportunity to gather, listen, share and enjoy the company of people who appreciate poetry.

Come on your own or bring a friend. Bring a poem you love, something you’ve written, a few lines saved on your phone, or even a thought you’d like to share. It doesn’t have to be polished or prepared. Just bring something that interests you, and let’s see where the conversation takes us!

Looking to January

As always, there will be room for poetry, conversation, sharing ideas, discovering new voices, and the wonderful things that happen when people gather around words.

More details about the January program will be announced soon. In the meantime, the date is set, and we’d love to see you there.

You don’t have to be a poet.

Sac Poetry is for people who love poetry or are simply curious about it.

Some people share their own writing. Others bring a favorite poem or a few lines saved on their phone. Some come to listen, while others enjoy exchanging thoughts and ideas. There’s always something special about people coming together around poetry.

Be Part of Our Poetry Gatherings

You’re invited to our Sacramento poetry gatherings. Hosted at local libraries, these relaxed, family-friendly gatherings are a place to meet others, share poetry, listen, and enjoy conversation. Most gatherings are held on Saturdays in the early afternoon and feature convenient locations with easy parking.

Everyone is welcome. Some people have been writing poetry for years. Others simply enjoy reading poetry or are curious to experience a gathering for the first time. Our gatherings are small and invite you to connect with our community through the beauty of poetry.

Gatherings often include opportunities to share your own poetry, bring a favorite poem to read aloud, listen to others, participate in a simple writing exercise to continue at home, and enjoy meaningful conversation together.

Sac Poetry has always been free and open to everyone.

Contributions help cover refreshments, printed materials, website and email costs, equipment, occasional guest poets and speakers, and other expenses that help keep each gathering welcoming and accessible.
